Desktop Series continued...
2 Attachment(s)
It is always very hot during July and August in Hong Kong. The outdoor temperature is over 34 degrees in day. People may not want to listen hot big tube amplifiers in hot summer. The small powered tube amplifiers are not so hot and more safe. So we continue to produce our desktop series. A new baby is coming...

What is it?
It is a mini tube amplifier. In the beginning, we designed this 3-tubes amplifier without a tube rectifier. Less heat. Since we succeed to make ECC85-6L6 single end, read Mark's review, we believe ECC85 is able to match 6V6 as well. So we did it, the circuit is more simple, a single ECC85 pushes 6V6 in class A single end. 4.5W output power is achieved at tetrode connection. Thanks Thomas. He made a new nice amp.

Direct signal path (one input) is the best.

Smart looking.

These are RCA smoked glass 6V6GT and Valvo ECC85 I keep. They are well matched and the overall sound of the amp is smooth, detailed and musical when pushing Mark Alpair 6 and CHR-70 bookshelf.

The price of this desktop 6V6 SE is USD298 including Chinese 6N1(=ECC85) and 6P6P(=6V6GT). If replace Valvo ECC85 and RCA 6V6GT, just add USD52 with total USD350, you will have wonderful sound.

The heavy duty 120W EI 86 power transformer is not hot even for long time use in summer. The choke is 10H/150mA for CLC filter.
