ECC83(12AX7) is a high-mu twin triode where were widely used by Marantz, Mcintosh, Jadis, etc. I like the sound of 12AX7.

I went through a dubious phase of using SRPP with 12AX7, whilst it sounds ok, the actual output impedance of this combination is >10K, not great for driving anything but a CF IMHO..

A gain of 20dB or less is generally more than adequate for a line stage, and an SRPP connected 6SN7 will give you that with an output impedance of around 1K.
The sound are different between 12AX7 and 6SN7 in SRPP connection. 12AX7 SRPP is powerful enough to drive any power amplifiers. 6SN7 SRPP has less gain than 12AX7 SRPP and the sound tends to be smoother and softer than 12AX7.

The interior wires for line section in this preamp is Neotech UPOCC AWG22 (0.6mm) copper hook-up wires which is a high purity 99.99998% OCC copper wires. The wires are made in Neotech, Taiwan. We used Neotech UPOCC wires because it can perform music accurately.
