6550/KT88 single end can easily handle loudspeakers over 86dB. The sound is powerful with sweetness and warmth for 6SN7 voltage amplifying stage.

We specially selected high end Jensen capacitors, 0.22uF/630V-pure copper foil aluminum tube, paper in oil with silver leadout, between 6SN7 and 6550. I can feel the smoothness, refinement and details in music which Jensen caps particularly performed.

Japanese Kiwame carbon film 2W resistors (green color) for audio were used into the audio section of the 6550/KT88 amplifier. The sound of Kiwame resistors tends to be sweet, smooth and detailed. Kiwame audio graded carbon film resistors have a lots of values available and are very good on tube amplifers.

This is the second 6550/KT88 single end power amplifier we made and sold in 2009. The circuit is new, single one 12AX7 as voltage amplifying stage and single one 12AU7 as cathode follower. The both triodes can supply enough power to 6550 or KT88 and achieve a strong dynamic performance for 12W under single end class A.

We custom-made 250W EI power transformer and 50W EI single end output transformers for this 6550 power amp. They are strong.
