Hi,
I planning to build a stereo Eico HF-20 (which originally had A Acrosound TO-300) I'm afraid to use the hammonds or Edcors -quality-, cant afford the Hashimotos & the Lundahls dont make the 6600 ct required. So could U please tell me what OT brand/model to use? Thanx |

Thanx:-)
I think tey are just right for me. By the way, what do U think of the Hashimoto? I'm using a CD as a source, good quality speakers & the Dynaco PAS3X for Preamp. Will it make a difference?? Thanx |

Have not listened to a Hashimoto. Dont know if James is near good enough and a better value. Others may help here.
For any decent system a better OPT is always suitable. No question about it. Its that the Audionote is really good and the price is good. Windings are OFC copper and the core is double the lower limit. But as I see now, Eico HF-20 is a UL amp so you have to forget the AN 185. AN does not believe in UL and has no UL taps on its OPTs. A good and cheap double C core (another more modern valid approach which may be considered an improvement by technical principle, opinions vary) is what Serbian Korato offers and can be even custom wound to your impedance requirements with UL taps at the percentage required by Eico design. See here. |

Hey-Hey!!!,
The Dynaco A-420 is a very similar output. Heyboer in Michigan winds these for ~$70 each. They've cloned a few other outputs for me with excellent results. Have them rewind your TO-300. cheers, Douglas
