Default Any pitfalls to choke derived CT?

I bought a 480V control transformer for my SET, but it has no center tap. I will need to run the input section at a lower voltage if I use my Aikido PCB's to drive the output tubes. Are there any drawbacks to using a choke derived center tap (3rd in picture)?

I guess one precaution would be to have caps rated for the full ++, although I'm not sure that losing the CT is any more likely a failure mode than any other. Is there anything else to worry about, say if the current draw on the ++ was higher than the choke was rated for, will it still work fine?

As I said in my post, I need to run the input section off a lower B+ because the Aikido PCB's put the upper and lower totem pole sections in the same envelope. So the input section will be roughly 300VDC B+ (which technically will exceed the Vhk but is probably OK judging by reports) and the output section will be roughly 600VDC B+.

ok, dropping resistor should do it..what is your load current for 300 volts? should not be hard to calculate values.

i haven't tried that circuit and i have doubts that it will work...

Well now I would consider that a pitfall

I was leery of burning off that much voltage as heat but it sounds like I may have no choice.
