Default LM385 Adjustable voltage ref. diode as LED bias?

Hi Guys,
I'm wondering is the LM385 would do a better job then LED as for cathode bias? The LM385 can be adjusted from 1.24V to 5.3V and its dynamic impedance is 1 ohm. The data sheet is http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM185-ADJ.pdf
Thanks

Here is what an LM385 really looks like to your circuit. Compare to the "schematic" of an LED.

Which leads to this kind of behavior. Compare to the dynamic Z of an LED.
