Due to a vendor error (and also a hex on all Capricorns this year, according to my horoscope
), I got shipped a dual 275 V / 500mA secondary toroidal power transformer (instead of the dual 325 V I wanted for a 2A3 cathode biased push-pull ). While the vendor is working with me to send me the right item at a reasonable rate , I have the option to keep this or return it for a refund. I'm wondering, though, if I could put this transformer to good use in the future. I think the voltage is about right for 45 (don't have the cash for a quad of those thought), or EL84 / 6V6. Any other suggestions ? I don't suppose 6L6 / 6BG6 would work optimally at about 300V . Thanks

Excellent transformer for 2x30W PP using 6L6 or EL32 tubes.
Also, 2x50W PP GU-50 may be made easily. How much did you pay for it?

Regarding the transformers, check http://www.toroid-transformer.com/ - they have a price list there.

Looks like AN-3T275 is exactly what the doctor prescribed for me! Now, I need a source of 100W 10KCT output transformers...

Dude, You can make an approx. 450 V./500 mA. PSU with that trafo. Wire the 2X 275 V. windings in series. Hybrid bridge rectify the 550 VAC. Use series connected pairs of UF4007s for the connections to ground. Use 6AU4s for the vacuum diodes. Choke I/P filter with a Hammond 193Q as the 1st inductor. For max. isolation between the channels, use separate LC sections after the initial LC section. The PSU described will work with KT88s, 6L6s, EL34s and 7591s. PP 300B circuits are not out of the question.

275x1.4=385V -- plenty for 6L6 push-pull amp.
275x1.4x2=770V -- plenty for GU-50 push-pull amp. In first case use 2 silicone diodes anf grounded tap, in the second case use a bridge and a tap to the middle of filtering capacitors (screen+preamp power, needs SS regulator).
