6DJ8 or 12AT7

Looking for opinions on and experieinces with choosing between the 6DJ8 and 12AT7, particularly in a driver circuit. I'm leaning towards the 6DJ8 for voltage gain and splitter.

How much voltage do you want to swing? What sort of configuration?

not sure, still hunting for the best idea, either a cascode gain circuit or used in a long tailed pair splitter circuit.
I hear pros and cons for each, most seem personal preference not performance specs.

I've done extensive work with both those tubes in driver circuits and have lots of measurements on both. Each has its use and virtue.

The ECC88 has a lower mu, lower Miller capacitance, higher transconductance, and generally needs higher current. The 12AT7 has double the gain, takes a higher rail voltage, and has better linearity in grounded cathode at large voltage swings. So, once you decide what sort of splitter you want and what you need it to do, the tube choice can be rationally made.
