Well, 829/832 classifies as UFO-tubes and this is what??
UFU-tubes meets slimy monster from the Lousiana swamps I have always wanted to do something crazy like this.

well, this is more an experiment with materials rather than with the sound
It probably wont be a killeramp sonically, But I like to experiment with different ideas and designs

Adalin, you're from Gothenburg??? You must take it to the DIY-summit on 21/4. You've heard about that?!
Else check HiFi-forum What is the chassis made of? It looks either as molten bakelite or clay or an old motorblock for a BMC Cooper .......

I like these double beam tetrodes too. I have made curves for the ones Tom listed (should be QQVO6-40 Tom!)and also for QQVO7-50 and YL1071 (the best of the lot).
Copies with pleasure on request. 7N7

I initially breadboarded the amp using a center tapped choke for phase inversion, then I tried Yeo's circuit, both sounds good, but I like Yeo's circuit, it has less parts. First I tried using 6n1p for driver, too much gain, used 12au7, same thing. Now I am using 6j5 and it sounds good! I just got a pair of 12b4 which I will try to use for the driver. I can't believe the bass out of this tubes. If I did not build monoblocks, you can build a three tube push pull, and you can tell everybody it is SE.

I`m from Russia (sorry for my English) Here is a little explanations about GU-32 I don`t understand, why are you searching Russian GU-29/32 because it is truly American tube, RCA 831 and i`m planning to ebay RCA original, instead of GU 32 Some russian horned tubes GU 32 tube passport link, pdf link (ГУ-32 in russian) set of Double Beam Power Tube for Generating , copy of RCA tubes photo (ГУ-19, ГУ-32, ГУ-29, ГИ-30), museum link photo (6С33С , ГУ-29 ,ГИ -30 , ГУ -32 , ГУ -19-1 , 6Р3С-1) ГМИ-90 and ВИ1-30/25, 33kV/40A, just for fun :-) The ruler in centimeters, not inches. For understanding russian tubes naming wiki link, designation system for high-power transmitter tubes: G (Russian Г, for "generatornaya" = "For Generating". Little academic trick. Means that tube modulate power supply energy U (Russian У) - ultra-shortwave (25-600 MHz) tube. I (Russian И) - impulse tube. most of them Ulyanovsk made, not Svetlana. Price In Russia GU-32 about 3 USD and GU-29 about 4 USD. Tube socket is rare, about 5 USD. proof link Shematics Google search request for GU 29 and 32 shematics here is some popular links 1 2 3 4 // long flame 5 6 //need registration 7 8 and many more schematics, discussions, variants u a welcome :-) I will be here short time. Any questions - ask me. Last edited by SlonSpb; 12th December 2012 at 01:47 PM. |
