I have Morgan Jones great book, but it focuses on the use of transistors more than than all tube designing. I am looking for a good, understandable resource that focuses on simple choke input power supply design.
I have been using PSUD2 and it is great, but sometimes I am not totally sure of what the graphs are telling me. It was mentioned here to use a current source as the load vs. the fixed resistance load, which makes great sense. I understand that I want a good rise with little to no overshoot, but what other waveforms are important when using this software? L1 output characteristics? etc. |

Use the step response within the current source dialog box to simulate load variations and see how your virtual psu reacts and recovers.
For tube regulated supplies, check out Steve Bench's articles on his web site. |

Practical Audio Design articles by Crowhurst and Marshall should help. Marshall has an article on power supply filters that may answer some your questions. The Crowhurst stuff isn't bad either, if you can follow his explanations (I find it a challenge in parts!)
