Hi All
Iplan to build a tube/mosfet power amplifier in the range of 150-200watts per side. What i want to know is can i use this soft-clipping circuit to prevent the nasty ss overload on my amplifier. www.tube.com/2006/05/blog90066.htm is the web site. Can someone let me know.
Thanks Dusk
ps this will be a amplifier for a guitar rig.

You mean here?

Sure, it would work.
You can also set up a tube stage to clip well before the power stage. It's a little harder and is normally somewhat assymetrical unless you are doing a push-pull circuit. All these things will give you differing sound at clipping.
This is the appeal of hybrid amps in my opinion.
