76 is a single triode tube made in the U.S. This type of tube is still available. New tube sockets are made in China.

A designer friend of mine told me that using a 76 with a 6SN7 is a pretty good match (actually much more than using a couple of 6SN7s).
I find the 2A3DX schematic quite interesting... Maybe I will give it a try with non over-expensive components at first (I mean, no Black-Gates or Audionote PIO...). Pascal PS. BTW, 76 tubes seem not that easy to find here (or at a price...) |
