Hey All,
Can someone let me know what characteristic(s) I can look for in a series pass tube candidate of a voltage regulator circuit that will ensure a lower voltage drop across the tube? Thanks.. |

How much voltage and current? 6Y6 and 6W6 can pass a fair amount of current at low drop, but can't take a lot of voltage. EL34 and 6550 will be better for higher voltage and current. 6AS7/6080 will work if you can drive some grid current - actually any of them will require grid current for lowest possible drop...

Actually I did want the series tube to be able to handle high supply voltage as well as a fair amount of current and low voltage drop across the tube. Looks like the EL34 is the winner. Thanks.
