Question Mullard Made Tube Source Query

Does anyone know where Mullard made CV8160s or CV8231s can be sourced? The types given are 6J6 equivalents and would go into a low gain "El Cheapo" variant.

Don't know about the Mullards, but I have a bunch of Amperex E90CC if you'd like to try one...

Hi ,
I know Mullard made the CV858 (probably by the million!) and also the M8081 . Never seen either of those 2 CV numbers before though

cheers

Tom,

Thanks for the info about the E90CC. A fellow wants to drive an "El Cheapo" with the preamp section of a Luxman receiver. The lower mu of the E90CC could easily be an advantage, as the receiver's line section has a gain of 6.7X.

Do you have an opinion about the voicing a builder would get using the E90CC as the splitter/driver and RCA "finals"? A combination of Mullard and RCA does sound good.

Mr. Paulsen will pay you for the tubes, if he procedes.
