Anyone here know the name of some of the largest radio transmitter tubes. I recall someone posting a link to a japanese tube amp using one of the mid sized transmitter tubes, that I believe were in the 2-3 foot tall range it seemed, and I was curious how big they got, and what they were called. A friend asked just how big some of them got, and I had heard that some were 4+ feet long in some of the larger radio stations. At the same time, I know the forced air cooled modern transmitter tubes aren't that large at all, even in the 20-50,000 watt range. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Are you talking about this amp? The thread is RS253 giant SE monoblock (Chinese)
The link to the amp is changed, the new link is http://www.bbs01.com/thread-614-1-2.html The webpage is in Chinese. The amp runs with reduced votage and wattage. Output 60W per channel. |
