-these tubes was made in old times, around 50s ~ 70s.beijing & shanghai both have tube factory.they were stopped.shuguang tube factory is still running, they make good tubes(300B,2A3,KT88, ...etc)

-these tubes have quality classification, usually label with a capital letter.
Q is for the research.
T is the best.
J is the better.
M is the good.
通用一 & 通用二 is for radio.

I'm not sure how correct all of this table is but it is interesting.

The small Chinese tubes are about 4 times the price of equivalent Russian tubes on Ebay and other internet stores, when you can find them. In my limited experience I have found the halves of twin triodes to not be well balanced. I have found leaking cathode to heater on a few valves 6P1. Sound is good but quality is questionable and four times the price of Russian equivalent type. It's a no brainer, unless the prices drop and lets find the gems in there. Yet Tubesteve says they go for USD$1 in China.

Ian.

I'm sure they do ... People don't advertise on eBay to break even, they want to make profit.

Sorry for diggin' up an old topic, but i'm quite sure that 6Z4/6Ц4П has different pinout compare to 6X4, although they have similar rating.

Look closely, ECC85 has a mu of 55, a gm of 6.1ma/V, and a filament current of 435mA. I can't understand what you find close to a tube (6N1 or 6N1P - no difference, one is chinese other is russian) that has mu of 35, gm of 4.55mA/V, and 600mA of heater current. Maybe they're compatible pin-to-pin, but so does 12AX7 and 12AU7
I fully agree on that point. As far as basic tube parameters are concerned, the closest equivalent to the 6N1 would be the 6BQ7 (or 6BK7) but you'll also need to check and compare the maximum ratings. The ECC85/6AQ8 is a poor substitute,as well as the ECC40 (with a different basing!). The fact is that despite the (often contradictory) informations available here and there, there are no real equivalents to these chinese tubes. Substitutions may (or may not) work in your circuit. (=application dependant).

Sorry to take your time, but are you saying that the pinout is the same as well? (6n3)

Thanks,
Nick
