Default B+ TX. overkill?

Down here in Argentina I stumbled upon a guy who will wind transformers in any configuration I want...for pennies on the dollar. As it happens we had to have one wound for a clothes dryer. This beast was appx. $200....Sooooo At ten inches deep and nine inches high with the core at four inches, this is a good case of overkill which is EXACTLY what I'm looking for...with some 40800 mikes worth of smoothing!
This is what I'm shooting for for the 300b SE project...I will use a simple high voltage rotary switch from standby, start,on.
The moment of time the switch is in the start position will run thru a PWR resistor to crank up the caps & the ON will connect the B+.
I really do believe in the simple approach....no timed relays, 555 timers, DC regulators & all that #$&@. Anybody here really believe in this approach?
KISS seems to be my motto!
