Look at the data sheet. The 340 mA. heater draw of the ECC808 is a matter of concern.
Does the Stereo 50 share a 'X7 between the 2 channels? If not, why get your bowels in an uproar? The Sovtek 12AX7LPS is a FINE tube available at modest cost.

I will look up the specs for heater windings on transformer used in Stereo50, but other than heater issue, can ECC808 take over the place of ECC83 in Stereo70...? (considering max cathode current and overall plate dissipation rating being half of 12AX7)
