Default Volume pot for Musical Fidelity F22 pre amp.

Hi! guys,

I hope you can help a newbie with a problem. I noticed the volume pot in my pre-amp buzzing(right chanel only) every time I turn the volume up or down, I've tried cleaning it with CRC contact cleaner but the buzzing came back after a few weeks.

Perhaps, I thought it's time to replace the volume pot?

I opened up the casing and the remote volume pot has and motor placed behind it. both the motor and pot are PCB mounted which is connected to main PCB board via ribbon connectors.

The volume pot looks like Alps blue velvet, but I can't tell which ohm value it's using, and I am hoping that some one here can help?

Thanks for looking.

Anyway, last night with some help of an experience friend, manage to find out. It's a 50K ohm Alps Blue Velvet pot.

Thanks for looking.

If it's hum or buzz and not a *kshhhhhcracklekshhhh*, I'd say a power or decoupling cap.... maybe even a tube (h-k leakage) rather than the control.

Try a little bit of WD-40 in the control and work it for 20 seconds. Might be a cure
