I have friends who own M7 preamps and they love it.
Its schematic has been floating on the net. Having said that, I won't spend $18 (or was it $15) for a PCB that will give me 20% less of the M7 sound. ps. They cannot say it's a copied M7 PCB or they can be sued. |

Hi
Why 20% less of the M7 sound? > I have friends who own M7 preamps and they love it More importantly, what are the characteristics that distinguish the M7 sound? Thanks |

I just quoted their description-
"Item is Modified Audio Mote M7 Pre-amplifier PCB. Audio Mote M7 is a one of modern famous pre-amplifier. The price is expensive, so some of you may not be affortable. This circuitary can produce approximate about 80%-90% of original sound of Audio Lote M7. " I have a friend who has owns one M7, his preferences are more to the slow, coloured type. He sold it to another friend who's taste is more to the detailed, with bite type. The buyer is happy ![]() Another friend has an all Audio Note setup - Conqueror, M7... and he hasn't returned my Foreplay  ps. If you notice, they never got the spelling correct either. So it is also 20% mis-spelled. He he he. |

> detailed, with bite
So detailed and - good transients? If so, that is what I like – re M7 v Foreplay What are the differences there? > This circuitry can produce approximate about 80%-90% of original sound of Audio Lote M7. " I took that to being a little modest – whether it’s 60% or 100% should depend on parts used & implementation. Cheers |

M7 uses 6072 and Foreplay uses 12AU7, different operating points, so an altogether different character. Matter of taste

I think some versions of the M7 use 12AX7 . . but
6072 v 12AU7 – I know nothing of their sonic characteristics – what are they? Thanks |

JPS
I’ve seen that thread, thanks. KYW knows his amps I’m very very tempted by the M7, but came across a GK-1 at a reasonable price. Later I might do an M7 or maybe an Ultrapath, but time keeps on slipping . . Cheers |
