Hello,

I am looking for at front end for my amp project. I have already the output buffer running: Bipolar non-feedback buffer in class A, running form +/-20V supply.

My next step is a tube front end able to drive the buffer to full output.

My idea is to use a two-stage amplifier, with a ECC83 as gain stage and a ECC82 as buffer.

Will this work out? Will a stage like this be able to deliver undistorted drive for the buffer?

It's been several years since I tried something like this but IIRC, driving a bipolar output stage directly was difficult and I decided to use a bipolar driver. It could be done with a power valve though. I also used a Mosfet output stage and the capacitive load at the top end was around 1k5. Kind of steep for a valve but definately doable.
