Default These Valves good for anything?

Hey guy's, Just got given a whole load of Valves, 3 small boxes to be precise! Not sure what most of them are or if they are any good but any help would be apreciatyed.
Amongst the lot so far i have recognised as being possibly usefull:
1 x Mullard ECC82 (white label, british made)
1 x Mullard ECF80 (yellow label, made in great britain)
11 x 6L6GT ( colomor, Edicron and some with no makers marks i can see, all apear to be NEW)
2x GEC? KT66 (british made)

Need help with the following though:
loads of EF184, probably about 15 of them, various makes, mostly brand new in boxes.
2x JAN - EF50 metal can valves.
Load of other EF50's with metal cans
1x 6J5G ( unknown make)
1x JAN - CHS6K7G
2x 6AU6 (marked "electronic tube" and "6AU6 A USA")

well, thats the first box gone through..
any of the tubes i didnt recognise any use in audio?
Many Thanks,
Owen

If these were mine, IF I'd be busy for the following projects

1) 6L6 PP amp
2) KT66 SEP amp

EF80 - triode/pentode - maybe something like a 6BM8 spud amp?

6AU6 - pentode, maybe a driver

EF184 - pentode, maybe triode strapping these will be great (Ra in Pentode is 330K)

Owen,

You could make a "unity" gain line stage from the ECC82/12AU7 and the 2 6AU6s. Pentodes make good current sinks and CCS loaded cathode followers sound GOOD.

Owen,

I did some research. The EF184/6EJ7, like the 6AU6/EF94, is a sharp cutoff pentode frequently found in TV IF strips. The EF184 will definitely work as a current sink. If a suitable operating point can be found, the 6EJ7 could be used for voltage amplification, as 6AU6s are used so instead of EF86s.

6EJ7/EF184 data sheet

First of all.. sorry for any mistakes.. i am a little drunk

arnoldc:
I have a heathkit s33 amp that uses ECF80's as the drivers.. it sound's pretty good even if it is my only hifi valve amp. it has ECF 80's driveing EL84's.. SEP.. nice sounding amp and very much louder into 4 Ohms than my 25Watt PC solid state YAmaha amp..

I did have in mind a 6L6PP amp for guitar practice use (only guiotar valve amps i have are PPP and EL34 = 100 Watt)

mabey i can get a subwoofer amp out of the KT66's (they look damn cool being proper bottle shape n all.)

Eli Duttman:
This sounds good.. basically all the tubes except the EF50's and the 6K7G have a use now.. and this is only the first box of three! i noticed some rather tasty looking valves int he other boxes but didnt want to mention them yet because it would mess up my memory of what i have already listed and what i havent..
The box i posted is by far the best, mostly NOS valves... the other two boxes all apear to be used BUT there is a piesce of paper that shows they have all been tested and the values the person got from testing all the valves so he must have kept them because they are of use.. dosnt seem like the sort of person that would keep rubbish if that makes sense..

In good working order those KT66 are worth more than their weight in gold... i'd sell them to fund the projects. Good vinatge 6L6s are getting kinda rare & would make a nice PP amp.

Quad II owners will give you their daughter in exchange for a pair of NOS GEC KT66.

EF184 is excellent for valve CCS.

6L6GT could be used in the output stage of all manner of amplifiers in the 20W range.

Now, if you could just give me your address and leave the door open when you go away for the weekend...

The EF184's - triode them and use 'em in a mu-stage. Can drive nails, near unmeasurable distortion and sound fantastic
