2) I could buy two 12AX7 variants.

I flat out refuse to part with my octet of Slyvania branded "made in GT. Britain" 6CA7's with the small hole in the centre of the index pins for any price....

The frame grid TFK 'X7 has carried an INSANE price tag for some time. Established dealers have been quoting $500. Given that fact, the buy it now price of $1100 for a closely matched pair makes some sense.

I don't care how good the TFK ECC803S sounds. Asking prices have long since passed lunatic levels. A Sovtek 12AX7LPS sounds good and costs approx. 10 bucks. No way is the TFK tube 50 times better sounding than the Sovtek.

Yah. I could sell my 6CA7's for the same price I've seen on some websites and be able to buy the Plitron iron for the amp I'd like to make ($250 US for the output trannies, and $200 US for the power tranny
