How are you finding this classic OP as compared to 'hotter' modern OPs?

Hi,

Some pictures of my current amp.

Used Tubes:
input :Standard 4019A
driver: Western Electric VT-25
power: Full Music PX-25 mesh
Rectifiers: half wave Klangfilm KL75303 (Telefunken RGN 1404)

All tubes are connected with interstages, the rest of the transformers you see are chokes.
The amp has double power channels; one for mid/high (actively filtered), one for low frequencies. The channels are split after the VT-25 with two interstages (primary in series) to drive two PX-25 into two permalloy output transformers.
Volume control is by a transformer with 24 sec. windings. the counter tubes indicate the volume setting.
Front is made from maple wood, knob from thuya burl wood, rest is Padauk wood.

What a fantastic build! The nixie counter for the stepped attenuator is a great idea! I think you ought to have a picture with the filaments lit up in a dark room.

Hi Guys,

Sorry! I didn't mean to show-off. I hope to inspire people to build amps in a different way as standard.

A few years ago I decided to make my lonely island amplifier; things got a bit out of hand after deciding for Tamura transformers, these are extremely expensive and hard to get in Europe. But now the design is so universal that I have already tried numerous different tubes and schematics without much trouble or additional costs.

And yes, it looks very cool in the dark.............
