Howdy folks,
I have searched this forum (and the web) in vain for this information. It seems that experience is involved! I am ready to buy a new Hakko 936-12 (ESD) Soldering Station. It comes with a standard tip 900M-T-1.6D. I would like to buy optional tips for point-to-point soldering. With your experience, I would appreciate any suggestion. You can find optional tips here. And FYI, EMSCO are selling this unit over the internet for $69.95 here. Thank you all. Best Mike |

Dido,
?? I am ready to buy a new Hakko 936-12 (ESD) Soldering Station I bought one a few month ago, with a spare tip ref: 900M-T-1.2D... At the Active store here in Montreal, it was a promo. Very good soldering station! What else do you want to know? Regards. Alain. |

So, I am considering to invest in several additional tips.
Chisel, bevel, conical!! My guest would be 900M-T-LB: Long, round tip, skinny, for cleaning out PCB holes 900M-T-3.2D: Chisel tip - For non-PCB work 900M-T-B: Conical - for PCB and non-PCB What is your experience? Thanks. Best, Mike |

Hi for what its worth,
I thought hakko 900 series was ok until i got myself a Metcal sp200. Now I don't know how I put up with Hakko's. If you can try one out do yourself a favor. Robert |

Dido,
Well, about 110 cad$ with spare tip including taxes. About EMSCO the only problem is shipping plus taxes... The Hako 936 ESD is a Rolls with a very good temperature regulation, a ceramic heater for long use, and very quick heating. I use it only about all pcb solderings. Regards. Alain. |

Alain,
I've called Active and the 936 is now 119.99 + spare tip + taxes. The promotion you've got was a good one. Thanks for your input. Best, Mike |
