I would like to extend an offer for Mike to move his operations down to Australia! (and give me a real job too while we're at it )

Seriously though, I do hope it works out well for him. Sounds like a tetchy situation
Us tubeophiles the world over certainly need what his company produces.

I don't know the context, but I was round at PM Components' yard a couple of weeks ago and they were unloading a half container of EI stuff.

Hi Majestic,
I already offered Mike to come to Canada. We're closer to him.

Choky is probably right, (he lives in Serbia so he's most likely to know), and PM Components haven't shipped much if any of the "Ei Gold" tubes lately.
According to the Ei web page, they're still in business, though!

Maybe Mike Matthews will get sick of Russian BS and buy the place

Yeah,Uncle

or ;(

just look at this page when is last time modified ;(

a proppo buying EI RC- that will be good move-buying place and making good offers to all staff who, in meantime , take some other jjobs...

Ned hit the nail on the head. EI's production post NATO bombing has been PLAGUED by Q/C problems, including misaligned screen grids in KT90s.

It's all very sad, as prior to the NATO bombing EI made some NICE tubes. At a minimum, add the KT90 to JT's list.

"NOS" EI = good Recent EI = guano

Maybe a letter writing campaign might help our gentleman?

These are the guys that bombed Serbia and the EI factory - I doubt whether they have the slightest interest in either tubes or Eastern Europe on past form.

Update- I got the following from New Sensor in yesterday's email regarding progess on this subject:

Quote:
December 9

Hartley Peavey, CEO Peavey Electronics sent a great letter via UPS to A. Konovalov, Putin’s representative for the whole Volga District.

December 12

Steve Grinrod, Managing Director, Vox Amplification Ltd. UK sent a great letter via UPS to R. Nurgaliev, Russia’s Minister of Internal Affairs

December 14

Matthew Janopaul, President, Fender Musical Instruments sent a great letter via UPS to P. Ipatov, Governor of Saratov

December 14

Tsutomu Katoh, Chairman, Korg Inc., Japan, sent a great letter via UPS to V. Ustinov, Ruissia’s General Prosecutor

December 9

ExpoPul won a "stay" at the Arbitration Court in Saratov.... meaning RBE's RefEnergko can not cut off energy and must continue to supply power at current prices for some indefinite period.

December 16

The Anti Monopoly Commission ruled in our favor, defining RBE’s RefEnergko as a monopoly, meaning they could not cut off energy at least until all litigation is completed. Any violation by RBE’s RefEnergko would result in criminal penalties and heavy fines.

December 19

US Ambassador to Russia, Willam Burns sent a letter to Governor Ipatov of Saratov voicing his concern on this situation and support for New Sensor and ExpoPul. Ambassador Burns also sent copies of this letter to several other high level Russian government officials.

December 14

New York State Governor George Pataki’s office called me and said they will study this and help. December 20 Governor Pataki’s office called me again and confirmed Governor Pataki would send out a letter imminently to Governor Ipatov and also give broad support in other areas.

This war is far from over. But, we are now well ahead of the curve and Rock&Roll will prevail.
So I guess letter writing campaigns do work, though it may depend on who's writin' the letters.. ;-)

Hi Ned,
Got the same letter from New Sensor. So it looks like there is breathing room. Let's hope they prevail. I don't really want to search for another source of reasonably priced good tubes. Mostly because they don't exist at this time.
