comments on HK designs
Just noticed that this design uses heaters of the preamp tubes as the output tube cathode bias resistor. I would not do this, they did it to save a few bucks, not a good idea:

Here we see another similar HK model, that uses the 12AT7 as I suggested, this is better but I'd use fixed bias, UL output, and avoid the voltage doubler power supply. I'd use the ST-70 output stage:

After doing a lot of reading I don't feel confident that there is.
Some of the projects may be neat to build, But do we end up with a great amp when we are finished or just a fair sounding amp?
