Do you know about Chelmer Valves? I think they're from the UK, but I doubt there's still a factory in the UK, so I wonder if they're NOS or maybe made in China.
Farnell in One is selling ECC83 = 9,14 €, EL34 = 18,79 €, KT88 = 46,83 € (plus VAT) and I'm wondering if they are worth the price. Svetlana, Sovtek, JJ, Electro Harmonix, Shino and Ei are cheaper than that. Cheers, Manuel |

Chelmer is just a distributor.... Sort of like a UK version of Groove Tubes...They measure for matched sets and re-label the tubes and have thier own label tube boxes...
A number of years ago...they were unable to match tubes to my level of quality..so they were curteous and professional and offered full return... A lot of people get a "woody" over Chelmer cause the company is in ENGLAND..and somehow drum up all this emotion from this association with ENGLAND that there must be some magic to the tubes... Give me a break... CHris |

They ripped me off - a few years ago I ordered a 4212E from them, specifying that I was only interested in, NOS original box.
The one that arrived had been repackaged and was clearly used; they agreed that I could send it back for a refund, which I did prior to going abroad for 6 months (work placement). I had to chase up the refund twice (no sign of it for weeks after it was promised) and when it did arrive it came with a £50 deduction for restocking (no mention of this originally from them, they just decided to apply it). I complained to no avail, they even had the nerve to ignore my emails and being a few thousand miles away at the time couldn't be bothered to chase up, what with the cost of calls. Two acquaintances of mine reported bad experiences with them but I won't go into hearsay now. If I were you, I'd keep well clear. |

Tested Valves my A**E they couldn't supply a working Ei 6CA7 if their life depended on it,I know this valve had a reputation or two but I only wanted 4 at the time.
I have dealt with http://www.watfordvalves.com/ and have had excellent service from these guys. |
