I have got the Plitron 3.5K SE OPT for my 300B amp. I noticed that it has much wider high frequency response than the Hammond's 1627SE OPT.
You can buy the Plitron directly from them. I believe its quality is really worth. Johnny |

I have a pair of 2.5K Plitron donuts for 300B. I like the shape of donut.

Hi Agent.5,
Just wonder what Power Transformer you are using in your 300B amp. I am using the Toroid.COM's power transformer for it's reasonable price. Johnny |

Hi Agent 5,
Recently I experiment various config for the power supply of my 300B MonoBloc a bit. Now I am having 5U4G-100uF (BG)-10H choke-100uF (BG) CLC PI filter. I noticed that with higher value of the input capacitor, the sound gets a lot better with flesh and blood especially for the vocal. I understand that 100uF input capacitor is an overkill for the 5U4G. I told my friend that this is a destructive experiment and see how long could the 5U4G last in such condition. Johnny |

I like unloading the primary impedance. Most manufactures specs are based upon maximum power at 5% IMD or worst. I prefer 5K with a 300B in the 325 to 350 plate volt range. What a watt or two?

I have tried to use 5K OPT with 2A3 and it didn't sound good at all. I would suggest to use 2.5K OPT for 300B.
