Default Any leads on repairing a vintage Alamo Capri tube amp? >>

Hi, I've got an Alamo Capri tube guitar amp that was given to me years ago. It had been out in a barn and was in rough shape. The cabinet is gone, but the electricals are all still there. It has never worked since I've had it, and if I remember correctly it just hummed when I hooked it up. It has 3 inputs, a volume, and a tone control. Has 3 tubes and 2 transformers and cloth covered wiring. Says 40 watts where the power wire enters it. Seems to have a large capacitor with a lot of different colored wires comming from it with writing on the canister giving the capacitance of various leads, all of which share a common ground.

I'd appreciate any links to learn how to test this thing as I'm totally new to tubes. I have a good DVM, will that be sufficient?

Also, it only has a 2 wire cord, I'm guessing putting a 3 wire cord on it and grounding the chassis would be a good idea?

I was going to use it to push an efficient sub for when I'm tinking in the garage as I've only got a pair of 5 1/4" ported bookshelf speakers right now. Doesn't need to be that loud, just some low end reinforcement for what I'm missing right now. I think the amp puts out 5 or 6 watts from what I can find online.

A schematic would be great also.

Thanks for any help,

Mike
