Default Different sound for CD Tube Player

I have a cd tube player(LECTOR). It uses an ECC88.
A friend of mine told me to try different tubes for different sound.
Do u think it's possible to try a 6CG7 or I must use only ECC88, E88CC, 6922?

6CG7 has very different characteristics and draws much more heater current. Whether you will be able to do a simple swap depends on the circuit.

If you don't know, it's probably best to leave it as is.

In that ECC88 family of tubes that includes 6DJ8, 6922, 7308 & a few others, plenty of tube exist for tube rolling. The 7308 Amperex PQ are excellent tubes.

I think your frined mean using different brands and getting different voice. Especially, Telefunken,Siemens,Philips,Mullard,
Tungsram and Amperex .
