anyone know of a kit to make tube night light?

I ran across a table light that uses tubes from Moth Audio and another from Mod Loft in NY. I'd like to DIY my own light with about 6 tubes, anyone know of a kit or published schematics for such a beast?

it shouldnt be hard. just find some tubes that you like and wire up the heaters.

hi , there was one published in a HI-FI- WORLD DIY supplement a few years ago using a 211 tube very simple, like some one else posted earlier just wire up the heater of any tube....... even though the tube is dead the heaters should work l tink! cheers TC

an 0D3, a clamper circuit, and a current limiting resistor?

should be able to run for years without blowing up, and a little more efficient than using a tube with a heater.

OA3 and 0.47 uF capacitor in series as a current limiter (Use 0.22 for 240V).

Use ONLY an AC line rated capacitor (X-cap), which will have safety agency marking (UL, CSA, VDE, etc.)

So anyway yeah, run any 0x2 or 0x3 type like a neon tube with a series resistor. 0A3 is preferred for the neon. 0G3 is neon but fully silvered inside, you'll have to find worn out ones to see much glow.

Filaments don't do much light but any tube with a lot of exposed cathode or filament will be nice. 6AS7 comes to mind. You'll spend a good 15-20VA though.
