Hi there
does anybody have a listening experience with the new KT66 claimed as GEC copy... There is a chineese and a russian make, the plate looks clearly like the GEC and not like a 6L6... so what about their sound ? cheers jacques |

Are you referring to the KT66 made by Valve-Art?
If so, I can asure you that they sound very good. |

Valve Art is the chineese one. did you compare them to the original GEC ?
The other one is the Reflektor... cheers jacques |

The Saratov KT66 sound very good, more punch in the bass than the GEC, but little rougher at the top, but good value for money though...

Sure, the upper part of the GEC is awesome... and my question is more : do the said copy meet the original ?

I never had the opportunity to compair them with the original GEC's. The Valve-Art's have silky smooth high's and very solid low's.
When the bias is set according to the original spec's from GEC you will have a very nice sounding tube-amp Cheers |

IMHO, no
but: a quad NOS GEC KT66 = €350 a quad Saratov KT66 = €80 it's all about value, if €350 is peanuts for you, why not, if €80 is what you consider normal, then they are good value cheers |

Zombie, thank you for you point of view, for sure the price difference is huge.
Out of the price only concern, I also wanted to see the quality to price ratio between the original one and the new ones (russian and chineese) cheers jacques |

I used the Saratovs as "everyday" valves for casual listening and used the GECs when I was listening more actively...

Woa , I did that with my former Leak TL50S....
I am looking the KT66 for my modified TL25S (I already have a quartett of GEC, and try to find the best buy for "casual listening" between the russian and the chineese) I also have some 6L6GC from RCA and ULTRON to test... cheers jacques |
