Default Unused HV windings on power transformer

I have a power transformer with multiple windings. I would like to press it into service, and utilize the 620 volt and 12.6 volt taps. There is a 6.3 volt tap connected to the 620 volt winding by another winding which elevates it to 1.3K volt. Can I just ignore these taps and leave them without a load, or am I asking for trouble? Regards, Bill.

Yes, you can ignore windings you don't want to use. Do put some shrink tubing or similar insulation on the end of the wire leads (if it has wire leads).

Thanks, SY. Good idea to insulate the tabs - I'd hate to fry myself in a careless moment. Having fried a perfectly good Simpson meter, I can vouch that it's easier than you'd think. Bill.
