Copyrights in the US have been getting stronger and longer. Lots of lobbying has taken the laws well past the point of ridiculous.

Note that copyrights can be assigned so they don't necessarily rest with the author or the author's estate.

What's the copyright date on the Lee book?

I make a brief search and seems that for book printed before 1978 there is some different regulation, but still very long covering also after the death of the author.

Lee book I have state copyright 1947, 1955 and is the second edition printed in 1958. Many years passed but is still the best written and careful explanation of magnetics applied to tube technology.

I agree that these copyright stuff are outrageus for the common sense and also usefulless to protect the little people from big corporation.

This is a reason I like tube: no lobbies behind them. Less software, more ideas!
