Need info about 5G84 tube

Just found a pair of giant Japanese made by Toshiba 5G84 tubes with 4 pin base (3 big pins and 1 smaller in diameter) with a thick metal electrode on the top of the bulb.

The inside structure looks similar to a kind of regulator (?) - sorry I can't post pix at the moment.

Does anybody know what kind of tube is that and can provide me with more technical info? Thanks in advance.

Perhaps it is a 5684?

This is a xenon filled thyratron with a large glass tubular envelope, a 4-pin base and topcap.

YES IT IS! Thank you audiousername!

However the 5G84 letter is clearly visible, but it can be a Japanese modification of the 5684 tube.

As far as I can see it's not suitable for audio applications for sure - what a shame for this beautiful tube

Yes, quite a shame it's no good for audio, but it still makes a nice ornament
