Default Any tube audiophile in New Dephli, India

Hello, fellows!

I've juest been hired by a telecom equipment vendor in China, Huawei, and will be sent to New Dephli, India to work for half a year. Is here any tube lovers there? I will be very glad, if there is any.

Do you mean New Delhi?

I'd expect there to be quite a few valve enthusiasts there, it's a big city!

Default Thank you for your correction. I've misspelt that word.

In fact, I wonder whether there is tube treasure in local second-hand market.

Default India resists to unveil her treasure.

It seems that Indian tube lovers are unwilling to give much exposure to a friend coming from the same continent and choose to continue their life full of mystery.

Hi Ken,
Yes there will be tube lovers in Delhi. However we don't seem to hear from them.
There were tubes available in some small pockets in Delhi. I have bought some a few years ago. Out of 20 tubes only three were useable ! Even if you do find them now , I'd be careful .
Currently I buy new Chinese and Soviet tubes from Singapore. Can't afford to throw away good money on poor tubes.
It's becoming very hard to find old tubes over here. The few that I've seen lately were very bad.

Most tube amps I have seen are all from the US or Singapore.
You'd better get yourself some local friends after reaching Delhi.
On your own , you will certainly get ripped off.
Cheers,
Ashok.

Hi

Delhi is not necessarily the best place to look for tube fanatics. If you come to the south, the largest factory where tubes were made, is located in Bangalore, where (Huawei has a software operation, as you may know). Here in the Sunday flea market tubes are sold, as also old tube radios and the like.
