Thumbs up learning how to do this

just curious on how you guys do all this stuff sounds like alot of fun i play the drums and fiddle with the guitar some it just cost too much for an amp setup maybe some advise on books to read

Default Learning how to do this

Have a good look thru' the On Line Tube Learning for Newbies permanent thread above. Of all the books I have in my collection I think the Morgan Jones "Valve Amplifiers" is amongst the best for giving you the basics.

If your interested in musical instrument amplifiers (where valve amps really excel) then Kevin O'Connors (London Power) TUT series is well worth a read.
