Hello,
I recently got hold of a little quantity of audio tubes, NOS in bulk industrial package (no single boxes).
Since I have been asked to trade some of them with other components I would like your advise to give them the right value.

The tubes are:

Mullard E88CC x 19 (gold pins)
Mullard E182CC x 6
Mullard? CV2492 x 10 (gold pins)

The man who sold them said they were from around 1970 and that all tested for emission between 90 and 105%.

The E88CC are well known, the E182CC are used in Thorsten's Adagio, the CV2492 turned out to be a special quality E88CC, but searching on the web I found many different prices/valutations.

Can someone help me about it? If needed I can dig out the fabrication codes.

Cheers

Andrea

Edit : wanted to attach pictures, but don't know how.. am I missing something?

Well, I know if you ebay them, an audiophool will probably mortgage his house to win the auction :D

I don't want to ruin anyone ;), however I would like to trade (or eventually sell) them on a correct basis.

If someone cares to help me giving them a meaning here are the factory codes I could read:
Mullard E 182 CC: ID2 40L4-ID2 40F4-ID2 40J1-ID3 42E1-ID4 16F3-ID4 45H2

Mullard E 88 CC: (7L1 R8F2)2pcs, (7L1 R8F1)13pcs,(7L1 R8F1)1pc,(7L1 R2L3)1pc,(7L1 R3A1)2pcs

CV 2492(made in England): KB/AD (2FO1778-1L12167-1L12167-1L12167-3C5391-3C53910-3C53910-3C53910-3C53910---)

Cheers

Dear Andrea,

Hey, an Italian! Me too! From Venice...

Try to contact the only serious tube site in Italy:
www.tnt-audio.com
Contact them and ask.

Orientative (highly subjective) prices:

Mullard E88CC x 19 (gold pins) = about 25 euro each
Mullard E182CC x 6 = 30/40 each or something
Mullard? CV2492 x 10 (gold pins) = 40/50 euro or more, these are hard to find
But these are my opinions... The best in these cases is to trade them to an audiophile for something BIG!

Or ebay them... Eck, you could buy an apartment in the center of Milano with that if you ebay right!

KEEP THEM AND BUILD A NICE PRE-AMP THAT USES THEM.

You will never regret it.

Two stages of of E88CC and E182CC line out driving an output transformer.

John

Thanks for the suggestion, if you drop me a schematic I can consider building one, however I should build a dozen preamps to use all these tubes (19 E88CC, 10 CV2492 and 6 E182CC..), so I thought that some of them might be traded for good components.

Cheers

Andrea
