I also may have a problem with this later down the track... three of my brothers kids don't listen to me when I tell them to move "No!" is all I get in return when they come to visit, which is about twice a month or so...

Heres an idea though, get an old fishtank and turn it upside down, setup a table, or make your own fishtank and cut out vents at the back and top (cables can go through them though you'll have problems removing it if thats the case, so just cut a half-oval at the back of the glass 'tank') then simply place it over the top of the unit while visitors are expected, thats the way I'm going to do it.

Glass can transfer the heat inside considerably easier than perspex (I'm guessing) and you won't have problems with steel pipes, the only problem is with shattered glass if something is thrown at it, hey better than your tubes right? and at least you'll know if you're away from the set (even for a second) if something has gone foobar in the listening lounge...

I'd be surprised if a local fish/aquarium glass cutter guy wouldn't be willing to cut plans for a tank like this.

I'd say in 99% of cases where children are a problem they're too young to lift a tank off the amp without either hitting something or dropping it afterwoods.

If you think theres a problem with lifting then just sealastic 'weights' on the inside of the tank at the bottom where it sits so it makes it considerably heavier.

Afterall they cut out box-filter transfer piping all the time..
