Default Any good Transformer or Tube manufactureres in India ?

Was wondering if there are any good transformer or tube manufacturers in India ?
I feel that market has a lot of potential waiting to be tapped into.
I believe they have a pretty good steel industry, and many manufacturing/industrial units that have the capability to develop a product as per your specs and quality. Basically the price/performance ratio should be pretty good.

Anybody explored that avenue ?

As far as I know, all laminations are imported and they only import types required for power transformer applications. Anyone who imports special types will be doing so to meet special export orders.

Transformers are cheaper here due to lower labour costs , but shipping out of India has one of the highest rates in the world. So considering that transformers are heavy and that you will have problems regarding support , it may not be a very good proposition to get them from here in small quantities. But then you can always find out rates etc. and then take an informed decision.

We had only one tube manufacturer in India. The government owned BEL . They stopped long ago and apparently sold all the equipment to some African country. So they couldn't even reopen any lines !
There are some tubes lying around but nothing like outside India. BEL only made ECCxx type tubes. Up to EL84 if I'm not mistaken. I have never seen an EL34 made by BEL but imported versions are there. Prices used to be low a few years ago. The current market is controlled by offspring of the old shop owners who have found out the international prices of these tubes and so charge sometimes more than US prices. Not a very happy situation for the local people.
Additionally you will find that many tubes are pulled from old equipment and there is no return policy. Most tubes with bakelite bases are loose and glued in place with instant glue. Very many tubes even perform below expected ratings. There is also the rampant reprinting of numbers. If you want a tube they get a similar sized one and just print on the number. You can't return it after buying. This is hard to do with larger tubes but I have had many correct numbers but dud tubes.
Suggest you spend money where you can get resonably reliable tubes.
Cheers.
