"Orientate" is another misceganation from that family of glorious words invented by management to justify meetings that produce nothing but memos. Personally, I'd like to diversificate my forward-looking thinking strategies to incorporate all emergent languagification and communication possibilities.

If not amperage to Ampere, then not voltage to Volt? I do believe amperage is sloppy though. FWIW, I also don't feel right saying orientate.

Actually I may have been trying too hard, I don't think volt needs capitalisation. (capitalisation? ) I guess I was just thinking of Count Volta

That's a tricky one. Many units are named in honour of the pioneer in that field (such as Gauss, or Weber) and we normally capitalise units named after people (as opposed to abstract units like metres or inches). It appears that once a unit has become a generic, it is acceptable for it to lose the mark of respect that capitalisation confers.

Well according to this literary discussion forum, the word "smellable" acutally exists even if used rarely. Dittio "olifactible" -- well done!
"Odourous" didn't get much of a gurnsey, though I feel I've heard it used more.

I wonder if the smell of a burning tube qualifies as "mephitic"?
