I won a Halldorson 26R17 transformer on EBAY and it is perfect for my 300B project, but I have never heard of Halldorson before, did they go out of business or get purchased by someone else or change their name or did I buy a boat anchor or what?
Does anyone know anything about this company, I have been assured the transformer is new but did Halldorson make poor transformers? Thanks for any help.

As far as I know Halldorson transformers were ok quallity, probably about the same quality as same vintage Stancors. My Dad worked for both companies from the 30's to 50's and he never said anything bad about the quaility of either.

Hey Frazzled,
I have a pdf file of Halldorson transformers. I found it somewhere and downloaded it. I was trying to find out something about a Halldorson HVAT-6 audio output transformer. Contact me at rogerben@bellsouth.net if you are interested in a free email of this catalog. rogerbent

There's a Halldarson transformer catalog on Pete Millet's page.
But this number sounds like Thordarson... if it is, it's 360-0-360 at 250 mA and four heater windings... looks like a good one to use for a stereo amp. Thordarson transformers are some of the best of their time. Catalog here: |
