Default Lafayette LA-224

This is my first tube amp (actually my second - listened to a Layfayette receiver in the 70s but it is long gone). I intend to use this amp in conjunction with my Thorens TD-150 to get a feel for the "tube sound".

Looking for information on the LA-224 integrated amp. Currently has four matsushita 6gw8 ,three 12ax7 and one 5ar4. Amp is operational but one of the 6gw8s seems to be drawing too much current (plate glows a little brighter than the other three). There are "hum adjusts" for each channel.

A schematic would be helpful if anyone has one as well as the function/adjustment procedures for the "hum adjust". Also interested in recommended upgrades including tube swaps.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would recommend changing out all of the power supply caps before you do anything else. Also are you sure those are hum pots? They might be biasing pots. Not really familiar with that amp though. Just a thought.

Here is a link to a place to get the manual:

Mavz, did you get this amp working? Which mods did you do?

I have had this amp for about 15 months now and I use it together with a a Thorens TD 125 mkii (with the SME 3009 arm) and it's been a great companion. However, it's probably time to change the bulbs and I'd like to do some sort of thorough cleaning and some tweaking.

G, changing the supply caps is really the best initial tweak? I'm not a big fan of the plugs (both speaker and inputs) and I'd like to change them. Any tips?

And Mavz, did you get the manual from that website?

By the way, I believe that the Dutch brand is actually called Bocama instead of Lafayette.
