I got some problems with a Power 2SE. Strange crackling and popping coming from left channel, swapped out the tubes, moved them round, it comes and goes.
Fitted new matched octet of SED kt88's, lots of popping in LC. pulled them and tried the original Sovtek, not a peep! Put the SED back, same, not a peep!
Finally I think I have a take on it, the tube sockets, primarily the power tubes. This seems strange to me as no tabs appear broken, yet this is where I can trace it to. Anyone else had problems with the Power 2 which include lots of crackling and popping on start up which goes away over 15 minutes?
Any common faults would be worthwhile knowing before I have to ship it off to a real tube expert!
