In addition to the voltage difference, the AC mains in North America are 60 Hz., not the 50 Hz. found in Europe. Inexpensive power transformers designed for use at 60 Hz. may overheat if used with 50 Hz. current. Before you spend any money make sure that the low priced kit's power trafo can work at 50 Hz.

Assuming 50 Hz. house current is OK, the voltage difference can be dealt with by acquiring a step down autotransformer.

BTW, ask the distributor if a "universal" power trafo is available for the kit. Such a trafo will increase the kit's cost, but the increase rates to be less than the cost of an autotransformer.

Hi Wuffer,

You might consider this 230v 50Hz alternative:

World Audio Design KECL82

Edit: It's a bit more expensive, but still reasonable, and has a case!

thanks... that dont seem to be so difficult to make... then are the speakers.. i'm going to make som that fits to the tube... not going to play loud so a bookshelf would be finde.. but i dont now wich yet...
