Pinging JAX (Sweden)

Not that I expect you to make the changes, but I would like your opinion of using a 6J6 for V1 and a 6GU7 for V2 in your PP EL34 design.

I'm cheap. Tested NOS 6J6s cost 1 USD. IMO, that's not too shabby for a tube "made to order" for phase splitting duties.

You could use 6J6 as V1 if you adjust the CCS for a suitable operating point. You will have to find tubes with well matched halves since you cannot balance with the pot anymore.

6GU7 can be used almost straight in, maybe a small tweak to keep 260V plate at 120V grid.

If I were you I would use 6GU7 in both positions. 6J6 isn't the most linear tube I've seen.

Either way, you need to tweak the phase compensation net a little.

Another idea is to use two 6J6 as V1 with the halves paralleled.
