hi, i was just wondering if anyone has got any plans for a car amp, the amp would need high level input and able to produce enough power to run two 12" subs. (the subs are 8ohms, but i can run them in series).
thanks |

Most of the tube car amps I have heard of are "hybrids" they use low voltage preamp tubes and Mosfets on the output. But these seem to be different. Try these links.:

Yeah that first link is rockin
![]() I'd love to have a quad of military (thick tubed) KT90's in the back of my future-Jeep. Goes to show those beach huggers where tubes can REALLY go :P Tho technically tube huggers are beach huggers too, in a much more accurate way we're obsidian, granite, diorite, and sandstone huggers, but that's a whole new kettle of fish. ![]() |

Although when I think about it I reckon a cluster of generic 6GW8'S or 6BM8's could do good in a car arrangement.
It depends upon if anyone would be interested in 10% distortion and considerably more in quad arrangement lol :P (if it could be done) I think 6L6-GC's would be more suited to the task as the NOS ones are low-profile sorta. There wouldn't be really any point at having rather detailed and expensive speakers in a car unless you intend upon soundproofing it to the extreme and then some, especially for small match-box cars that have you driving so close to the road that you could have sworn you just heared it touch! ![]() |
