MOVs provide protection against VOLTAGE surges, such as those induced by nearby lightning. MOVs are the key parts in low cost power strip surge suppressors. NTC thermistors provide protection against turn on CURRENT surges. At turn on, a large value filter cap. is a short circuit.

The more info you post the more over my head this project seems to be. So on EBAY it goes under seller vilk2, sorry for the spam, but thanks to everyone who posted. In the end i have a feeling i would have just ruined the amp with my inexperiance,so maybe one of you can enjoy its possibilities.

No one said it would be easy. Beyond testing tubes there is a lot of work involved to really get good at trouble shooting. Good luck in what ever you do
