The phono and instrument are connected. I can't recall exactly how, but I'll have the schematics within a couple of days and then post. Thanks BTW.

Default i have one too

i am also a fellow musician with a bell 3710 a. i bought it on ebay and want to restore it and use it as a head for a 2x12 cab. i, like you have struck out online, and need a schematic to really do this right. how is your project coming along? would you consider posting the schematic or sending me a scan?

i live in mexico and am a full time musician (classic rock) and build electric guitars and gear as a hobby. i think this bell might make a fender tweed style amp. these old simple pa style amps have allot of potential. the best of the original guitar tube amp circuits like the fender bassman and marshall 18 are very simple circuits. less between the input and the speaker is more. no one believes my homebuilt marshall 18 watt is really 18 watts. it blows modern tube amps and solid state amps right off the stage even when they are rated at 4-5 times my output wattage.

please help me with the schematic if you have one. i live in mexico and will pick up this amp in california next week along with 2 other vintage project amps.

thx, russ

Default schematics

You know, I don't remember if I got the schematics or not. I'll have to poke around to see. (This is but one of the many projects I have laying by the wayside!) Where do you live in Mexico? I recently made a page about Cabo... http://www.caboaction.com/

Default no luck

nope. never got'em. But the amp is so chunky under the hood... you shouldn't have too much trouble figuring it out. Let me know what specific questions you have and I (or somebody smarter) will do my best to help. I could use a little kick in the pants to re-cap mine anyhow!

Default or...

wait. I did get the schematics! Just found'em. I paid some guy for photocopies of the "photofact" documentation. Can't remember where I found them, but if you feel like tossing me some paypal love, I'll whip out the old scanner and send you some hot pdf action. I'm happy to answer questions re: their contents free of charge, but scanning is a bitch with my slow gear - hence the charge. Poke around google and maybe you can find them.

Default paypal

hey, thanks for the replies. i live near puerto vallarta (aka puerto viagra). i am a full time musician and love to tinker, but i am fairly new to tube amps other than repairing obvious bad parts that dont test right with a vom or capacitance tester. i have been cruising the 18watt site and there are some interesting schematics there. i admire and hope to soak up some of the genius i see on this site and the 18 watt site. i really want to understand what and why so i can make intelligent modifications and become a contributor.

i also have a stromberg carlson au34 (2 6l6g power tubes and a 5ug4 like the old fenders) for a project, and a heathhit ea3 that is similar to my marshall 18 watt clone. both use el 84 power and an ez81 rectifier. my marshall is modified to use an ef86 pentode in v1 so the channel 1 is more like a vox 15 circuit. with two vintage celestion 30 watt speakers this is the best amp i have evre played through in the 44 years i have been playing. it flat blows away my two fender super twins (180w rms 395 peak). i don't get it. 18 watts vs 180 and the 18 watt kicks ***!! that is why i want to learn more. the 18 watt circuit (and 15 watt pentode circuit) is simpler and uses much less power to deliver huge fat velvet sound. i actually play better listening to it. it helps me feed it what it wants. ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN " 'SPLAIN ME THIS SO EVEN LUCY GETS IT".?

how much should i send for the fact sheet/schematic. i can give you an address in california that i will be at in a week for 2 days if mailing is easier. what ever is best for you works for me. i don't get the amp till then anyway. I'LL CHECK OUT YOUR WEBSITE. i play tonight so i need to get it together.

later amigo. thanks for the help. i know what digging throug papers is like.

here is a link to a kodak gallery of photos of the 18 watt clone and the synth guitar i built. you might have to copy and paste it into the address box.

thanks again, russ

Default congrats

Please post updates of your progress here! And consider posting the contact info for the person who's sending the goods to you... if they do so commercially or free regularly. It's a rare/awesome service.

Hey Guys.
I'm new to diyAudio and found this thread. I have just found a Pacemaker Model PM 10 by Bell Sound Systems at a local second hand shop for $20! They even have all new tubes for it! I do play guitar and was wondering how easily it vould be modified for guitar use. Also does anyone know how many watts this amp produces?
Thanks in advance!
